High-Performance Seals

June 7, 2007
New high-performance HDR-2C U-packings combine two-materials in a single seal.

Low-temperature polyurethane 92 AU 21100, which withstands high dynamic loads, is used at the static and dynamic sealing edges. And extrusion-resistant polyurethane 98 AU 928 prevents gap extrusion and ensures a tight press fit in the groove base. In this way, the seals can be used at extremely low temperatures without impairing extrusion stability at high temperatures. It permits wider production tolerances for the guide and greater gap widths. The U-packing also eliminates the need for backup rings in many cases, saving money and simplifying assembly. Service ratings are from –40 to 100°C and to 400 bar pressure (500-bar peak).
