Hardcoated-Plastic Films

Terrapin G Nano-Hardcoats consist of tiny nanomaterial particulates that form an extremely hard yet flexible coating.

The optically transparent hardcoat is available on polyester and polycarbonate film substrates that serve in optoelectronic lenses and appliances. On polyester, Terrapin G has a pencil hardness of 3H on the JIS 9401 test (750 gm of pencil force) and 4H on the ASTM D3363 test (300 gm of pencil force). On polycarbonate, it has HB pencil hardness on either test. Abrasion resistance is said to be 20% better than other hardcoats. Polyester hardcoated films come in web widths up to 60 in. and thicknesses from 0.002 to 0.01 in. Polycarbonate-coated films up to 48-in. wide come in 0.007 to 0.03-in. thicknesses.
