Engineers can choose from industry-standard components to assemble the gearmotor they need from the 750 Series of ac and dc right-angle gearmotors from Bison Gear, St. Charles, Ill. (www.bisongear.com). Options include single and three-phase motors, with hollow, single, or double shafts. The gearmotors are lubed for life, ensuring fewer field failures and downtime. Die-cast gearcases have integral cooling fins and are hardened and polished for efficiency and long life. Units are available with traditional Bison mounting or the hollow-shaft style. Ac units come with brake shaft extension for optional ac power-off brakes, while dc units have tapped armature shafts for mounting shaft-extension kits and optical encoders.
