Floating bearings

Nov. 4, 2004
For use in machine-tool spindles, floating-displacement bearings are hybrid ball bearings with a surface-ground inner ring of Cronidur 30 high-performance bearing steel.

The design compensates for thermal expansion of a shaft. The units are available for either the nonlocating bearing side or for the work end. Depending on the requirements, the bearings incorporate the sliding function in the bearing outer ring, with a choice of seals and collecting ducts for oil return. For the work end, preadjusted or adjustable integrated units accommodate temperature differences and heat dissipation.
