Fast Linear Axis

March 9, 2006
A new Series linear axis called Lirax-M LD targets assembly automation and handles weights up to 20 kg (45 lb).

It is constructed from a aluminum profile that has integrated roller guides and is actuated by a linear motor. Standard stroke length is up to 2,000 mm. Axis modules are available in two different designs. The user can choose between a signal-drive slide with feed forces of 50 to 300 N (11 to 68 lbf), or a twin-drive slide which will double the feed force to 100 and 600 N (22 and 136 lbf) correspondingly. Acceleration hits 70 m/sec 2 (230 fps 2 ) and top speed is 5 m/sec (16 fps). With this high acceleration and speed, the axis can to hold a repeat accuracy of less than 0.01 mm (0.0004 in.).
