The AirNC electropneumatic servosystem from Bosch Rexroth, Lexington, Ky., (boschrexroth-us.com) is capable of position, speed, and force control, reportedly making it ideal for demanding applications like liquid filling and flexible packaging.

The unit integrates into the main control system through digital, analog, or serial communications. It includes three modular components: a programmable control unit, ND-7 high-performance proportional electropneumatic valves, and pneumatic actuators with integrated SSI transducers. Hygienically designed all-stainless-steel actuators are an option.

The system offers high pressure and force reproducibility and precise position feedback. Repeatability is ±0.7mm. Strokes range from 25 to 500 mm, with accuracy below ±1 mm. Cylinder speeds are 0.05 to 0.5 m/sec. The system can use up to four analog inputs and four outputs, and 8, 16, or 24 digital inputs and outputs. The AirNC supports major bus protocols for serial communication.
