Caliper Brakes Withstand Cold, Harsh Environments

The spring-engaged, hydraulically disengaged caliper brakes are for dynamic braking and static-holding applications

The spring-engaged, hydraulically disengaged caliper brakes are for dynamic braking and static-holding applications. The brakes operate at temperatures as low as –30°F, unlike their pneumatically actuated counterparts that offer a minimum operating range of 0°F.

The brakes feature fixed-point pivots for equal braking force to both sides of the brake rotor. Various friction materials can be specified for different applications. Quick-release pins allow easy brake shoe removal from the actuator arms for easy friction-pad replacement.

The actuator uses a nested spring design, which minimizes spring-force losses and allows modify the braking torque to meet application requirements. Ports with large Cv values ensure fast actuation, even when the hydraulic fluid is at lower temperature. Disengagement pressures, ranging from 75-psi minimum to 1,500-psi maximum are available. The actuator features manual disengagement options for safe and easy servicing.
