Bosch Rexroth Corp., Rochester Hills, Mich., is consolidating its branch offices in the Detroit area, moving 120 local employees into a 57,000-ft2 facility on Research Drive in Rochester Hills to be nearer to its automotive and industrial customers in the region.

The company's Intelligent Hydraulic Drives (IHD) unit will begin moving into the facility this month and will later be joined by associates from its Auburn Hills office. The existing Auburn Hills facility houses competency centers for all four of the company's industrial technology groups: Electric Drives and Controls, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Linear Motion and Assembly Technologies.

IHD, acquired from the Dana Corp. last year, specializes in the development, engineering, and integration of hydraulic hybrid components into motor vehicles.

The Rochester Hills SmartZone is one of 11 areas in the state creating clusters of companies in advanced manufacturing and high-technology industries. Rochester Hills houses R&D and engineering centers for both DaimlerChrysler and Volkswagen, whose headquarters are located in neighboring Auburn Hills, and is home to Oakland University and Rochester College.

Bosch Rexroth continues to establish strong ties with its Bosch parent company in the Michigan community. Nearby Farmington Hills is home to the Bosch North American automotive headquarters. In addition to its manufacturing facilities throughout the state, Bosch recently opened a new, energy-efficient Technical Center in Plymouth Township, furthering the expansion of its automotive capabilities in Michigan.
