Henrik Schunk elected to VDMA Board

The managing director of SCHUNK GmbH & Co. KG, Henrik A. Schunk, has been elected to the 11-member Board of Directors of the VDMA-Fachverbands Robotik + Automation (the German Association of Machine Builders — Trade Association Robotics and Automation). With more than 3,000 corporate members and over 400 professionals at its head office in Frankfurt/Main, VDMA is Europe's largest industrial organization for the capital goods industry. Yaskawa expands operations

Yaskawa Electric America Inc., Waukegan, Ill., has expanded its U.S.-based operations: Earlier this year, the company moved into a new facility near Milwaukee, Wis. Recently, Yaskawa added more space for a total of 140,000 square ft of office and manufacturing space. The original relocation, from New Berlin to Oak Creek, Wis., was needed because growth in the North and South American markets required additional space for manufacturing.

Bosch Rexroth opens service center

Bosch Rexroth Corp., Hoffman Estates, Ill., has opened a new Dallas Regional Service Center. The facility will provide Rexroth warranty service, repairs, and conversions, along with exchange programs that will help manufacturers reduce their carbon footprint by reusing housings from retuned units. In 2010, Rexroth will also offer field service for industrial and mobile hydraulics customers. The center will support customers in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and parts of Florida.

Motion Industries acquires BC Bearing

Genuine Parts Company, Atlanta, announces that its industrial parts group, Motion Industries Inc., Birmingham, Ala., has entered into an agreement to acquire the North American assets of BC Bearing (BC Bearing, US Bearings, and Norcan), headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. BC Bearing is a family-owned bearing and power transmission distributor operating 53 branches throughout western Canada and the northwestern U.S. The company expects the purchase to be complete in early March.
