CUI encoders join MicroMo dc motors

CUI Inc., Tualatin, Ore., announces that their AMT Series modular encoder is now being carried by MicroMo Electronics Inc., Clearwater, Fla., a leader in micromotion solutions for nearly 50 years and a member of the FAULHABER Group. The AMT features CUI's capacitive technology, which offers advantages over optical technology typically used in today's modular encoders, according to company sources. The encoder design lets users select from a range of resolutions and common problems associated with optical encoders (fragility of the optical disk, LED burnout, limited temperature range, high current consumption) are eliminated. The AMT has been paired with several MicroMo dc motors ranging from 22 to 32 mm diameters and is being sold as a value-added package, suitable for indication and control of shaft velocity and direction of rotation as well as for positioning.

Schunk products certified for cleanrooms

Many products from Schunk Inc., Morrisville, N.C., can now be used in cleanrooms, as confirmed by a certificate issued by TÜV Süd (Technical Inspection Association in South Germany). The certificate confirms suitability for use in Class 5 cleanrooms according to ISO 14644. ISO Class 5 is comparable to Class 100 of the US-Fed. -Std. 209, which is no longer valid, but still frequently referenced. The company has certified entire product series, rather than individual items, so the certificate covers all product versions and variants. More specifically, the following series are certified: PGN-plus parallel gripper; DPG-plus sealed parallel gripper; PZN-plus centric gripper; DPZ-plus sealed centric gripper; MPG miniature parallel gripper; MPZ miniature centric gripper; and the SRU rotary module.
