Two miniature surface-mount-technology (SMT )
digital color
sensors are
designed for use in small consumer
and portable-electronic applications.
The ADJD-S311, that measures 2.2
× 2.2 × 0.76 mm, is a CMOS IC with
integrated RGB filters that targets
designers of portable devices that
require high integration, small size,
and low-power consumption. The
ADJD-S371-QR999 measures 3.9× 4.5 × 1.8 mm and is said to be the
first and smallest reflective digital
color-sensing module that incorporates a white LED and digital color
sensor. Both digital color sensors are
four-channel red, green, blue (RGB),
and clear digital color sensors with a
10-bit resolution.
Both color sensors provide all
necessary circuitry to directly interface with a microprocessor using a
conventional two-wire serial interface. Moreover, the sensors operate
from a 2.5-V supply for low-power
consumption from portable devices.
A development kit, the HDJD-JD07,
comes complete with all the tools
and software that lets designers with
little to no prior experience using
color sensors develop color-sensing
and measurement applications. Sensor operating temperature is from 0
to 70°C. And the package is lead-free.
